科技新报／微软内部称Windows 8是另一个 Vista
知名科技部落客 Paul Thurrott 在 Twitter 上透露，微软公司内部将 Windows 8 成为新 Vista，在销量和市场认可度方面，微软员工认为 Windows 8 和 Windows Vista 一样糟糕，甚至销量还不如 Vista。
微软 Windows 8 系统自上市以来销量速度不 及Windows Vista 同期表现，截止到 2013 年 9 月 Windows 8 上市 11 个月全球市占率仅为 8%，而 Windows Vista 在发表 11 个月后网路流量占比为8.1%，Windows 7 上市11个月占比为 17.6%，后者为微软旗下 Windows 市占率最高的系统。
先前 Paul Thurrott 透露预装 Windows 8.1 系统的 PC 出货量不到 2,500 万台，从另一方面也证明 PC 产业持续衰退，据市场研究公司 Gartner 预期 2013 年 PC 销量下跌幅度将超过以往任何一年。
对于微软来说，Windows 8 成败与否还处在争议中，研发重心则放到了下世代 Windows 系统，内部开发代号为 Threshold，据悉这就将全平台的系统，微软尝试将 Windows 系统拓展至智慧型手机、平板电脑、甚至游戏主机平台上，避免 PC 产业衰退给 Windows 业务带来的影响。
