澳洲第二大城墨尔本市区惊传随机刺人案，造成至少1死3伤，伤者包括歹徒。市中心的布尔克街（Bourke Street）9日下午4时许传出爆炸声，一名男子开车冲撞店家，现场爆出浓烈火焰。从影片中可见，一名男子不断挥舞刀子，与两名警察在大街上对峙。警方表示，歹徒身受重伤，目前已经被逮捕，被刺伤的人们也正在接受救治。
另一段在微信上流传开来的画面显示，一名勇猛的黑衣路人用商场的手推车撞击、追着歹徒跑，影片后半段还能听见许多声枪响。警方发布声明指出，被送往医院的3人当中，有一人颈部受伤、情况危急，另一人头部受伤，第3人的伤势则不明。

这起事件发生在人潮众多的大街上，上百位市民和游客被挡在封锁线外，附近的商店暂停营业，电车也停止行驶。在布尔克街商场的目击者告诉《卫报》，「我们听到一声巨响」，还看见一团火球。墨尔本所在的维多利亚省（Victoria）省长安德鲁斯（Daniel Andrews）则发布推文提醒民众避开事发地点。
