去年开始世界各国开始陆续放宽入境限制，个人和商务旅游人数增加，也造成在机场无法应付暴增的旅行人数，欧美许多国家机场行李大乱，各种状况层出不穷。随着今年台湾开放国境，相信国人也会遇到相似的状况和问题，让我们来看看和行李相关的用语，在TOEIC测验职场情境也很实用喔。

baggage allowance 行李限制

allow「允许」为动词，allowance 当名词有两个常用的重要解释，第一个是permitted amount or quantity「容许范围」，换言之，也就是一种「限制」limit。也就是航空公司针对不同的航线、班机和票价制定行李大小、尺寸、重量，甚至是能够携带的物品等限制。

allowance 的另个重要意思是「津贴，零佣金」，同义字还有stipend、payment、pocket money。但allowance特别是在描述「（经过某人同意而给予的）金钱」，如父母给子女、公司给出差的员工， 或政府提供公费留学生的经费。

Some companies provide allowances to employees to cover their work-related expenses such as transportation, lodging, and so on. （有些公司通常会提供零佣金给员工支付工作相关的费用如交通或住宿）

checked bags 托运行李

一般人看到check一字会想到「检查」，而在机场checked bags指的是「托运的行李」，而carry-on／hand bags则是「手提行李」。因此在航空公司柜台常会听到人员问Do you have any luggage to check in? 「你有行李要托运吗？」

此外，在登机时，有些行李因为尺寸或特殊用途，例如娃娃车、轮椅等，无法放置于座位附近，因此会需要gate check「机舱门口寄挂行李」，这些物件则被称为gate-checked bags。

Travelers with carry-on bags or items that can’t fit under their seats or overhead bins will be asked to gate-check their bags. （旅客如有手提行李或物品无法放置于座位下或是头上的行李置物箱，必须要在机门寄挂行李。）

baggage claim行李提领

baggage claim「行李提领」是在机场一定会看到的标示，claim在TOEIC测验中是个高频出现的单字，而且一字多义，在机场的场合常解释为「认领，拿取」，可以当动词和名词使用。

此外，claim 也有「索取，索赔」的意思，常用在保险理赔（insurance claim），有些航空公司可能会有遗失行李理赔（lost baggage insurance claim）的相关政策。而正式申请理赔，通常我们可以用动词 file。

You might file a claim with the airline if your luggage is lost. （如果航空公司遗失了你的行李，你可以申请理赔。）

Please submit your claim for travel expense reimbursement to the Accounting department. （请向会计部门提交您的差旅费报帐申请。）

此外，claim还有一个常用的意思是「宣称，主张」，在新闻报导中经常出现。

Loxel Technology claims that its latest laptop is the lightest and the slimmest one currently available on the market.（Loxel 科技公司宣称他们最新的笔电是目前市场上最轻最薄的。）

2. 正解为(B)。句意为「当我和朋友出去吃饭时，我们通常都平分帐单。」本题为单字题，check在美式英语有「帐单」的意思，所以结帐时可以直接说 Check, please.，而split the check解释为「平分帐单」，故(B)为正确答案。
