【新闻多益】台北马拉松周日开跑，参赛者的英文你知道吗？
几年运动维持健康的风潮兴盛，慢跑、路跑的人数也增加，众所周知的年度台北马拉松路跑将在12/20登场，这是今年新冠疫情影响下全球少数如期举行的大型运动赛事，而今年的马拉松标语 Dare to Breathe「勇感呼吸」似乎也呼应了今年特殊的情况，我们就来看看和马拉松运动相关的多益单字有哪些。
路跑road running和马拉松marathon
首先，路跑和马拉松都是长跑的一种，也是一种考验耐力的跑步，因此常被归类为long-distance running、endurance running。这里的long-distance可以翻成「长距」，常可和其他名词搭配使用如long-distance flights长途飞行、long-distance calls长途电话、long-distance relationship远距恋情。此外，动词endure意思是忍耐、承受；持续经历，因此路跑的情境下endurance就是一种「耐力」的考验。

路跑的英文是road running，而马拉松marathon重音在第一音节，常见有跑完42.195公里全程的全马（full marathon）和只进行一半路程21公里的半马（half marathon）两种。有趣的是marathon也可以用来表示长时间连续从事某种活动，如连续几个小时的报导、长时间连续追剧等，此时marathon可用作动词，也可是名词。

登记参加马拉松通常是免费的，但真正入选参加马拉松的跑者，是需要缴报名费entry fee。著名的美国马拉松之一、纽约马拉松，entry fee从美金$255到$358元不等，也就是说并不是每个登记的都可以跑。然而这个费用通常是不可退费（non-refundable）、不可转让的（non-transferable）。

「参赛者」英文可用participant或contestant，前者是由动词participate演变而来，后者则是contest。值得注意的是contest当名词重音在第一音节，常搭配其他名词使用，如karaoke contest卡拉OK比赛、speech contest演讲比赛，当动词时重音则在第二音节。

然而，今年因为新冠疫情的关系，除了执行体温检测外，台北马拉松路线和人数限制较以往不同。

cap一般我们所熟知的就是名词「盖子」，另一个解释就是「限制」，在此做动词「限制」，也就是set a limit、limit、restrict的意思。
今年台北马拉松的路线route将从台北市政府广场出发，沿途会经过一些交通枢纽和主要道路，因此通常会有交通管制（traffic control），民众可参考路线图 （route map）来做绕道的准备，以上这些字也是多益测验的高频单字。
