【英语多益通】看苹果发表会邀请函学英文

iPhone 6「千呼万唤始出来」，这也敲开了各家智慧型手机大厂「9月『机』战」的隆咚战鼓。不论是传闻中的5吋大荧幕，还是提前曝光的机壳，iPhone 6终于无法再等。苹果公司正式向媒体发出邀请函，定于9月9日新品发布会。邀请函上这么写道：
9. 9. 2014Wish we could say more.
You are invited to an exclusive event at the Flint Center for the Performing Artsin Cupertino on September 9 at 10:00 a.m.
Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. Please arrive early.
邀请函上说：「2014年9月9月。希望我们能说多一点（Wish we could say more.）。9月9日早上10点，在Cupertino市的Flint Center for the Performing Arts艺术表演中心，邀请您参加此独一无二的活动。8点开始报到。请提早到场。」
苹果公司的「Wish we could say more.（希望我们能说多一点）」，被认为是在小小的逗弄媒体。据信这是苹果公司除了要发布新品iPhone 6之外，还要带上新款的智慧型手表iWatch，因为more有「更多的」之意。连CNN也这么猜测的写道：
But the "say more" tease prompted immediate speculation that new phones might not be all that's on the agenda. The safest bet is that a long-anticipated "iWatch" smartwatch will be introduced as well.（「say more」这个小玩笑让人迅速猜测，新手机可能不是新品发布会议程的全部。敢打赌一定还要介绍期待已久的iWatch。)
可别小看这一新品发布邀请函（invitation），它是国际职场里的重要沟通工具，所以必有国际职场与多益测验的核心字汇；其中「You are invited to an exclusive event」里的exclusive就非常重要。它当形容词使用的时候，是「唯一的、独有的、排他的、专用的」。但是它还有一个重要的名词用法，指「别人没有而我独有」，所以是指新闻台的「独家报导」。
例句：This special offer is exclusive to the VIP members of the Sunny Shopping Mall.（只有Sunny Shopping Mall购物中心的贵宾会员才能享有此优惠。 ）
We provide breaking entertainment news, insider information, and many exclusives in film.（我们提供娱乐圈的插播新闻、内幕消息，以及许多电影圈的独家报导。）
exclusive的副词exclusively是「专门地」、「独家地」，也常用来修饰一般动词。不妨顺便一记exclude是「排除」。
例句：The previous working experiences on his résumé were exclusively in marketing.（他履历表上之前的工作经验都是行销方面的。）
