【英语多益通】三星连环爆 你知道如何用英文要求退货吗？

三星Galaxy Note 7八月初登场后，不到一个内已发生数起手机起火燃烧和爆炸事件，收到许多消费者的抱怨信函，于是三星开始召回手机（recall）或让消费者换机（replacement）。
然而，新机似乎无法解决起火燃烧的问题，迫使三星展开二次手机回收，最后宣布停产、停卖。但三星的麻烦并未随着宣布停卖而休止。几天后，美国运输局基于安全考量宣布全面禁止携带Note 7登机或托运，使得Note 7成为了命运多舛的手机。
在职场上，我们经常会遇到对商家或厂商提供的服务、处理态度不满意、商品有瑕疵，或订单处理的疏失等状况，需要打电话或写抱怨信，而这也是多益测验常考的情境之一。此时，若你知道该如何在客诉信函内清楚表达你的需求，或熟悉测验题型，肯定能事半功倍！
英文抱怨信函的写作基本上有三个重要的部分，一是表明写信的目的和产品／服务的资讯（如产品型号，购买时间，地点），接着叙述产品的问题，最后提出希望的解决方式或补偿。让我们从以下范例说明客诉信函重要的句型及字汇：
Dear Sir/Madam,
I’m writing to complain about the poor quality of Kingwood TV cabinet (serial number OPTX256) I ordered on September 24 from your online store. I had read the description advertised on your website and several reviews online, so I had high expectations. However, when I unpacked it from the box, I discovered that the cabinet doors do not shut properly. In addition, when placed on the floor, the cabinet is wobbly on the right side.
（我觉得贵公司网路商场所贩卖的Kingwood电视柜，序号OPTX256的品质很差。我看到网路上阅读了商品描述和评价，对于产品有高的期待。然而，当我打开盒子后发现电视柜的门无法关好，而且放在地板上时，电视柜的右方不平，会晃动。）
通常信件的开头会表明写信目的，在此即可用以下几个句型I’m writing to complain about …I’m writing in regards to／in connection with…I’d like to file／register／lodge a complaint about …
在正式表达抱怨内容时可用file、register，或lodge当作动词，后面接抱怨的名词 「complaint」。register常用作动词当「注册」解释，如register for a course（注册一个课程）、register your car（登记／注册你的车子）。lodge也常用名词lodging表示「住宿」的意思，也就是accommodation。
例句：Travel expenses usually cover transportation, meals, and lodgings.（差旅费通常包含交通和食宿。）
而范例中的wobbly是形容词，表示「不稳，晃动」，反义字有steady、stable等。
接着，这位顾客继续写道：I’m extremely disappointed with your product. Therefore, I would like to have this faulty cabinet picked up without extra shipping cost and replaced with a new one.（我对此产品相当失望，因此希望你们将瑕疵的柜子免运费取回，并换个新的给我）
faulty是形容词，解释为「瑕疵的、损坏的」，类似的字有defective、flawed、damaged等。
在上文中有个重要的使役动词文法句型：have／get something Vp.p.（have/get＋东西+动词分词）
例句I need to have this suit dry-cleaned by Friday.（我需要在星期五前送（干）洗这套西装。）
顾客在信函最后写道：Enclosed is a copy of the invoice as proof of purchase. I look forward to your prompt reply.
Sincerely,（随信附上发票影本为购买证明。希望你们能尽快回复。）
上文中动词enclose为「随信附上」之意，惯用法为enclose A with B。（enclose的名词为enclosure）
例句I’ve enclosed a check with this letter.（我随信附上支票一张。）
另外，常在信件最底下表示加注附件的「Encl.」正是enclosure或enclosed的缩写。例如：「Encl.: copy of the receipt for TV cabinet」。
客人提到的proof of purchase即「购买证明」，同理，「身分证明」即可用proof of identity。
文末的prompt这里当形容词，是quick（快速）的意思，因此a prompt reply为尽快回复的意思。此外，prompt亦可当作动词，做「促使、导致」解释。例句Thank you for your prompt reply.（谢谢您的快速回复。）
The strike prompted the company to improve the working condition in the factory.（罢工促使公司改善工厂的工作环境。）
另一方面，当厂商收到顾客的抱怨信时，也应展现诚意并尽快回复。此时，回复抱怨的写作通常包含两个重点，一是知会收到抱怨信件并致上歉意，二是提出解释和解决方法如退款（refund）、换货（exchange），甚至补偿和优惠。请看以下范例：
Dear [Name],Thank you for your letter of September 30. We’re sorry that the TV cabinet you purchased on September 24 has not lived up to your expectations.
We will call you to arrange the pick-up of the defective TV cabinet and send you a replacement. You’ll not be charged for the additional shipping.
Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.
Sincerely,（谢谢你9月30号的来信，我们对你所购买的商品不符合您的期待感到抱歉。我们将会致电安排取走瑕疵的电视柜并送新的给你，你不用支付额外的运费。我们对所造成的任何不变深感抱歉。）
回复抱怨信的开头可用以下几个句型We’re sorry to hear that you’re not completely satisfied with …We’re sorry to learn about the poor quality of …Thank you for your letter regarding／concerning …Thank you for informing us about …
值得注意的是上文中的片语live up to one’s expectations，解释为「达成（某人）的期待／预期」。

解析：正确答案(D)。本题为文法题，使役动词get后面接的是「东西／物品的受词」。由于东西是被送出，所以被动的动词分词形态delivered为正解。
选项(A)to deliver用于主动句型。此时，使役动词have、get后面的接法不同，必须特别注意。举例：get the courier to deliver the packages／have the courier deliver the packagescourier (n)解释为「信差」或「快递公司」。
本题题意为「很幸运地我们在飓风上周侵袭前已将所有的包裹送出给客户。」
2. According to the investigation, the derailment of the commuter train last month might have been caused by a _________ brake.(A) falter(B) faulty(C) detective(D) faculty
解析：正确答案(B)。此题为单字题，选项多为容易混淆的字。选项(A)falter为动词，做「迟疑」解释，与选项(D)faculty「教员」拼法类似。选项(C)detective为名词，是「侦探」的意思，与defective「瑕疵」也相当类似。因此，根据题意，正确答案为(B)。
本题题意为「根据调查，上个月通勤电车脱轨的意外可能是损坏的（失灵）煞车所造成的。」※题目中的derail (v)，表示「脱轨」。
