【英语多益通】小资疯周年庆 voucher是什么意思？

各百货业者的周年庆促销大战陆续开打，消费者纷纷趁机大捡便宜。在国外也有周年庆等促销活动，出国时若是因为看不懂而错过了这么难得的省钱购物机会，实在可惜。今天我们就来学一些促销时常见的单字，让你出国不错过任何捡便宜的机会！此外，促销广告也是多益常见的考题之一，学会以下用语对应试也有相当大的助益！
A. Flash Sale 快闪特卖Flash的意思是「一闪而过的动作」，可用作动词或名词，在此是作名词用，再加上后面的名词sale，形成复合名词。
Flash可用在很多生活英文单字中，如flashlight一按就闪开的灯光，即手电筒；camera flash则是相机的闪光灯，我们通常都是跟turn on / off的动词片语搭配使用。
Flash也可用在片语中，如a flash of understanding 指的是「突然」明白了某事，后面的understanding可用insight替换。Flash in the pan则是惯用语「一闪而逝的名气」，也有人会说15 minutes of fame，不管用flash或是15 minutes都是强调时间很短暂。
现在来看个实例吧！

看完广告后，请思考以下几个问题：1. How long will the flash sale last?2. How much discount is offered?3. If you choose Ups Express, when is the latest time to place an order?
解析：
1. 广告中提到48 hours only，后面又强调「Ends 12. 13」，所以答案是2 days (48 hours)。
2. 广告中放大的红字「up to 75% off」即打折的折数，所以答案为最多折扣数可到25折。请注意，中英文的说法刚好互补，因为英文采用「减去多少」的方式来表达，但中文是用「占有多少比例」来看。另外select style是「精选款式」的意思，因此不是所有物件都有这么大的折扣数。
3. 广告右上角的黑色小字是在说明不同的寄送方式，造成订购时间相异。分别是一般运送，12/6中午前一定要订购；优比速快捷包裹，12/19 晚上12点前要订；优比速隔天送方式则是12/20晚上12点前要订购，如此才能在12/24前收到商品。由此可知，这题是12/19 晚上12点前要订。
接下来介绍另一个促销常用字：
B. Freebie 赠品这个字中间的「free」是大家熟识的意思－免费的，因此这个单字指的便是「an article or service given free」，不论是商品或是服务只要不收费，英文就可以用这个单字表达。然而，这个字是口语说法，通常讲话或广告中才会使用。
从这个概念延伸，另两个多益常见单字coupon和voucher不可不知。
Coupon是「优惠券」，在coupon上常见的广告用语有：「Buy one, get one free」买一送一、「20% off your next purchase」下次消费打八折等。后者voucher则翻译为「兑换卷」，通常是商店为了吸引顾客，因此给予兑换卷让顾客体验新品的商业手法。
我们以冰筒的促销广告为例：

解析：
1. 这是个典型的买一送一的广告，顾客需先买一支冰淇淋才能获得赠品。cone指的是「冰筒」。
2. 括号中说「送的冰筒的价格必须为等值商品（equal value）或是少于付费的冰筒价格（lesser value）」，就是常见的赠品价值不得高于付费的商品价格的概念。因此我们可以回答「It cannot be more than what you pay for.」
3. 广告最下方附加说明，为了符合此促销活动，购买的冰筒不含（exclude意指排除）所有的松饼系列，因此我们可以回答「A customer can choose all, except for waffle cone varieties.」

解析：
1. 正确答案(B)，店家不负责去取衣物的服务。题目问「什么服务不包含在内？」文中说「Just bring in your laundry and we’ll do all the rest.」所以顾客只要自己送洗衣物，剩下的washing、ironing和delivery就交给他们处理。（文中有提到we’ll deliver your washed and ironed clothes.）
2. 正确答案(D)，题目问「10公斤的衣物可以获得多少折扣？」文中说到「25% discount for every 10 kilos.」所以答案是(D)。注意不得选(A)，因为题目问的是10公斤的衣物非5公斤的衣物。
3. 正确答案(B)。题目问「顾客何时可以收到送洗衣物？」文中提到「Within 24 hours, we’ll deliver your washed and ironed clothes.」24小时内可以收到送洗衣物，所以最合理的答案是(B)，隔天可以收到。选项(A) 12/30指的是这个优惠方案的截止日，不是收送洗衣物的日子。
