【英语多益通】不认识这5个单字 小心被机器人取代

在科幻电影中，人类未来的生活里环绕着会说话、会走路做事的机器人；但是依当前局势来看，这个「未来」近在眼前。首先，谷歌公司（Google）2016年将要让无人驾驶车（driverless car）全面上路；亚马逊公司（Amazon）已经蓄势待发地要用无人飞机（drone）递送网购商品；未来学专家（futurologist）大胆预测：2025年之前，也就是10年之后，甚至连医师、律师、会计师这种白领阶级（white-collar）的工作，也将由人工智慧取代；首当其冲、将大幅改变产业型态的会是医疗、运输、物流业。
要赶上未来科技潮流，你必须要能看懂国际媒体在这方面的报导，以下几个是当今该话题的热门字：
1. drone（无人飞机）虽然Google 的无人驾驶车是driverless car，但是在战场上大出锋头、Amazon 即将用来为网购送货的「无人飞机」，一般都称之为drone。此字读作[dron]，它源自英美空军对于靶机的俗称。
例句：Amazon has formally asked regulators permission to test its delivery drones in outdoor areas near Seattle.（亚马逊公司已正式要求监管机构准许在西雅图户外地区测试送货的无人飞机。）
2. A.I.与A.R.（人工智慧与扩增实境）A.I.是指「人工智慧」， 全名是Artificial Intelligence，此artificial（人造的、人工的）可是多益测验的核心字汇。
A.I.已流行多年，而现今最红火、与机器人有关的是A.R.，它的全名是Augmented Reality，一般称之为「扩增实境」。augment是动词，有「扩大、增加」之意。
3. 3D printing（3D立体列印）3D是指「立体」的，这个D是dimensions，指长、宽、高的空间维度。
例句：The construction companies find 3D printing technology will improve the process of their production.（建筑公司发现，3D列印技术将改善他们的产品制程。）
4. robot（机器人）robot读作[ˋrobʌt]，它的形容词是robotic，指「机器人的」或「自动的」。此外，robotics这个字也很夯，指与机器人有关的科学或技术。提到机器人就一定会提到「自动化」，即automation；而形容词「自动的」则是automatic。
5. white-collar（白领阶级的）white-collar是用来形容职场上运用脑力的管理阶层，与其相对的是「蓝领阶级的」blue-collar。机器人取代蓝领阶级已行之数十年，但是未来机器人将取代运用脑力的白领阶级，成为「白领机器人」。
例句：A report predicts that robots could entirely replace white-collar jobs by 2035.（一份报告指出：2035年以前，机器人可能全面取代白领工作。）
