【英语多益通】骇客任务经典台词 学「回报」英文怎么说？

今年上映满20周年的骇客任务（The Matrix）以4K高画质修复版重返大银幕，相信所有基哥迷都很期待到电影院去看这部经典之作！不过毕竟时隔20年之久，我们不妨透过电影中的经典台词重温剧情，并从中学习多益单字吧！
当史密斯探员在侦讯室拷问尼欧时，他宣称莫菲斯是恐怖份子，想利用尼欧探出莫菲斯的消息：
We're willing to wipe the slate clean, give you a fresh start. All that we're asking in return is your cooperation in bringing a known terrorist to justice.（我们愿意勾销旧帐，给你新的人生，唯一的回报就是要你配合我们将那声名狼藉的恐怖份子绳之以法。）
in return 作为回报、交换
in return这个片语通常放在句尾，如I’ll do him a favor in return（我会帮他一个忙作为回报），常见的同义词也可以说do something in exchange。另外也能使用to reciprocate（报答、交换）这个动词来描述，但因reciprocate为及物动词，通常会先接上被报答的人事物。若要接上回馈的方式，reciprocate后方必须接上with，例如I’ll reciprocate him with a favor。
He ran some errands for me last week, so I looked after his dog in return.（他上礼拜帮我处理了一些杂事，所以我帮他照顾狗作为回报。）
All the guests reciprocated her hospitality with their homemade dishes.（所有客人都以亲手烹煮的菜肴作为她热情款待的回报。）
若要用in return说明报答恩情或事情，则可接上for这个介系词。此外，也可使用reciprocate的名词as reciprocation for来描述报答恩情或事情。
Some tenants get rent reductions in return for maintaining the building.（有些租客因协助维护大楼得到房租减免的回馈。）
The manager gave his subordinates extra bonuses as reciprocation for their hard work.（这位经理因下属的辛劳多给他们额外奖金作为回报。）
cooperation 合作、配合
Cooperation源自动词cooperate，字首「co-」为一起之意，operate为操作、经营之意，「-ion」为名词结尾，因此cooperation便成了合作的意思。与cooperation同义的多益常考单字有collaboration，但两个单字在某些情境上仍有些差异。两字相同的部分有「为了双方利益共同合作」，但cooperation有仅为了单方利益而「配合」，有较被动合作的意思，而collaboration则只有单纯的互助合作之意，无「配合」的涵义。
两字可通用的情况如下:Teamwork comes down to cooperation and communication, and without it, your business can certainly suffer.（团队工作最重要的就是合作与沟通，没有团队合作你的公司很可能会遭殃。）
以上例句cooperation的部分可直接用collaboration替换，意思完全一致，因为这里的合作指的就是为了共同的利益合作。
然而，在骇客任务中的经典台词中，就出现了cooperation属于被动合作的情况。史密斯探员想强迫尼欧透漏讯息而要他配合，所以在这种情况便不能使用collaboration。
在职场情境中在需要人配合公司制度或规定时，也常使用cooperation，在这种情况下也同样不能使用collaboration。
Please make sure you attach all the receipts for reimbursement by the end of the month. Thank you for your cooperation.（请确实在月底前附上所有收据以完成公费请款，感谢您的配合。）
在电影的尾声，尼欧在回到真实世界前，在电话亭中留下一段留言给创造母体的机器人。I’m going to hang up this phone, then I’m going to show these people what you don’t want them to see. I’m going to show them a world without you. A world without rules and control. A world without borders or boundaries. A world where anything is possible. Where we go from there is a choice I leave to you.（我将挂断电话，让芸芸众生见到你们一直在隐藏的真实世界，一个没有电脑的世界，没有规则、掌控、无国境或界线之分，一个充满各种可能的世界，从此以后的发展就由你们自己决定。）
boundary 边界、界线
boundary可表示具体的界线，如公园的边界the boundary of a park、国家的边境national boundaries等实体界线，其同义字为台词中也有出现的border。border本身是国界之意，像美国边境专门侦查非法移民或毒品走私的边境巡逻队就叫做border patrol。boundary与border不同的地方就在于boundary能够表示内心尺度界线，而border仅能表示实体的区域界线或是物品的边缘。
By creating proper boundaries at work, you can free up your time, energy, emotions, and talents for what is most important.（在职场中设立适当的界线能让你替最要紧的事腾出更多的时间、精力、情绪与才能。）

2. 正解为(A)。题意为「建立明确的界线有助于维持良好的生产力与职场间的社交动力。」此句help后面必须接to加原型动词（to可省略），因此答案为(A) to maintain。
