【英语多益通】高雄荣登10大旅游城市 Lonely Planet怎么说？

国际知名的旅游指南《孤独星球》Lonely Planet公布2018年世界最佳旅游城市名单，高雄成为唯一入选的亚洲城市。《孤独星球》是如何介绍高雄呢？我们借此机会了解外国人眼中的高雄，也学学如何向外国人推荐高雄吧！
不断evolve的高雄
This ever-evolving collection of dozens of old warehouses is stuffed with boutiques, galleries, cafes and performance venues that line two sweeping boulevards by the port where ships are docked.（这个不断进化并集结好几十个仓库的点挤满了精品店、艺廊、咖啡厅和表演场地，沿着停靠船只的港口边延展的大道两旁排列树立着。）
首先我们先来学evolve（进化），他的名词变化为evolution，形容词变化则是evolutionary。再将evolve改为主动式的现在分词，加上ever这个副词，就是ever-evolving不断进化的。英文有一种常见的复合形容词喜欢用ever加上分词表达「不断～」之意，如ever-changing不断改变的、ever-lasting不断持续地等等，都是运用了这个方法来创造出来的单字。
例句：It is said that people evolved from monkeys.（据说人们是由猴子演化而来。）
接下来我们看到be stuffed with，就是「用～填满」的意思，stuff可以延伸变成动词，就是塞满的的意思，因为这个地方不会主动塞满，因此他也通常用作被动态，要注意介系词要配with而不是by，因为这个不是指动作者，而是表达「用～东西去填满」的概念。多益测验听力部份喜欢混淆考生视听，因此注意内容情境来判断作为名词或动词用法，才不会被误导。
Performance venue则是出现了我们常见的venue一词，performance来自perform这个动词，表演之意，performer后面加上「-er」就是表演者的意思。Venue是多益常见单字，表达场地的意思。多益测验的情境常会看到公司要寻找办活动或会议的场地，就会用这个单字来表达。
高雄modernise
A growing number of young chefs and restaurateurs in the city are working to modernise southern Taiwanese cuisine, while shining a spotlight on local produce. （城市中不断成长的年经大厨和餐厅业者努力促使南台湾美食的现代化，同时使当地的农产品成为镁光灯焦点。）
这边用了一个常见的片语，a number of表达很多的意思，等同于many，注意这里后面只能接可数名词，因此chef和restaurateur都要加上「-s」表达复数。
后面使用的不定词片语中用了一个动词modernise，其实就是形容词modern的动词，也就是我们中文直接音译「摩登」的意思。值得注意的是这边用的是英文拼法，其字尾拼法为「-ise」，美式拼法则是「-ize」，都是表达动词的字尾。名词变化modernization/modernisation，现代化之意。
最后介绍一个在多益测验中很常见的单字，大多数人熟悉的是produce当作动词，表达产生之意，名词production抽象概念，product则是具体产品概念。可是这边是作名词，意思是农产品，重音在第一个音节，不是第二个音节，因此大家在考听力时要注意重音来辨别意思。

解析：1. 这题是在问这篇文章主要在说什么？从第一句「 ELG is seeking an exceptional graphic designer to join its creative in-house team.」就可以明确看出来这间公司在征才，这句的意思是说「ELG正在寻找一名杰出的平面设计师加入这个公司内部创意无限的团队。」因此答案只能选(B)工作机会。
2. 这题问「关于这个工作人选，哪个资格并没有提到？」从文中第三段可以一窥究竟，「The ideal candidate will be a versatile, reliable designer, with strong layout typographic skills, a good eye for detail……」。首先提到适合理想的应征人选必须要「多变圆滑的、可靠的，拥有强大的平面印刷技能，而且做事仔细，对于印刷品有基本认知，至少要有三年商业经验，且拥有CS软体和微软应用软体的知识。」
所以明显地答案(C)，因为have a good eye for ~并不是指视力要好，而是对某件事情有一定的敏感度或是感知。
3. 这题题目问「如果你想要应征，你需要做什么？」这题则要看到文章的最后一段，「To apply, please email your CV and work samples ……」，这里提到要应征的人必须要寄履历表、作品样本和求职信到公司的email帐号，并注明目前工作薪水。因此答案要选(A)。
